Student suspended and arrested from Catholic HS in Canada for religious expression

There is no freedom of religion in this Catholic school.

Canadian high school student, Josh Alexander, was dismissed in November 2022 for having only two genders. Since then she has also been arrested for protesting transgender women (biological men) having access to girls’ bathrooms.

Alexander’s Catholic high school, St. Joseph’s, administered his punishment, which he finds ironic as the focus of his protest is his religious faith…beliefs that align with the Catholic faith his school prides itself on.

In an interview with the National Post, Alexander explained what happened in class.

I was suspended for making comments during a class discussion. It was about male students using female toilets, gender dysphoria and male breastfeeding. Everyone was sharing their views on it, including teachers and any students who were willing to participate. I said there were only two genders and you were born a man or a woman and that got me in trouble. And then I said that gender doesn’t trump biology.

James Kitchen of the Liberty Defense Fund, who is representing the student, said Alexander would be allowed to return to the school if he agreed not to use the “dead name” of a transgender student, though Alexander said he did not do so.

“Forcing Josh to lie about the opposite gender of his beliefs and separating him from class is a disgusting manifestation of religious discrimination,” Kitchen said.

As a result of the incident, Alexander claimed, “Freedom of religion is probably one of our most important liberties, so I’m not going to surrender it in the face of persecution.”

He added, “It just shows how little freedom of expression we have in our country.”

In addition to agreeing not to use the students’ “dead names,” Alexander was told she could not attend two classes she enrolled in because they had transgender students who did not agree with her religious beliefs.

So the trans students kicked him out of their class because they disagreed with his Catholic faith – in a Catholic high school, I might add. Apparently only the opinions and wishes of particular students matter.

When Alexander tried to return to school, the vice principal took him outside to meet the police. He was driven off the property in the back of the cruiser and released on trespassing charges.

It’s pretty crazy. It’s some dystopian type of nonsense that a student who expressed that he didn’t like the idea of a man entering a women’s restroom and accepted that there were only two genders following his religious beliefs was expelled.

Then again, this is Canada. Am I correct?

“Josh not only has the right to express himself during class discussions and through public forums, he also has the right not to be discriminated against by his school for his sincerely held religious beliefs,” Kitchen said. The height of inequality.”

Kudos to Alexander and his determination to defend freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Hopefully his woke, “Catholic” school will have a Jesus moment soon.
